Recent FAA Filings Point to a Record-Breaking Drop for 2026 Dive Coaster
An interesting Reddit post recently uncovered new details regarding Six Flags Over Texas’ record-breaking dive coaster project. Though the park has not shared any ride details, other than the type of coaster, recent Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) filings are pointing to the tallest drop on a dive coaster to date.
Multiple FAA filings show the attraction exceeding heights of 300 feet.
The FAA requires any construction or alteration that exceeds 200 feet to be reported prior to work commencing. Though Six Flags Over Texas is in close proximity to multiple airports in the area, the dive coaster project would not exceed heights of other attractions, including Texas SkyScreamer and Superman: Tower of Power. It is unclear if the height includes construction equipment, though it specifically references “Amusement Park Structure” on the filings.
Named Project Rubi, Six Flags Over Texas has filed 21 permits with the FAA for various heights. Some filings are grouped together in location and height, likely pointing out where specific ride elements will stand. Four of these filings come in at over 300 feet tall, expected to be structure for the coaster’s first drop. Other filings include a segment over 220 feet, a segment over 180 feet and another at around 160 feet.
Reddit users have begun to map out permit coordinates from filings.
Seen above, Reddit users have begun mapping out coordinates based off data found in the FAA filings. The cluster of 300+ foot filings land in Six Flags Over Texas’ parking lot, signifying a possible turn from the lift hill to the first drop. Other clusters point to signature elements, including a potential inversion that stands over 220 feet tall. As seen, all points are located on or near the former La Vibora site. Based off details in the filings, construction is set to take place from March 1, 2025 to March 30, 2026. As of this story, Six Flags Over Texas has not made an official announcement regarding the dive coaster’s statistics or its layout.
