Unique Ride Experiences
Previous “4D” roller coaster concepts featured mechanisms that controlled the ride’s inversions. X2 at Magic Mountain, for instance, features a second set of rails intended to exclusively determine the orientation of ride cars. S&S 4D roller coasters are mostly aided by gravity and weight distribution. Though ride car orientation is controlled in the station, the only other mechanism to aid flipping are magnetic fins throughout the track layout. The rest of the ride experience depends on how the riders themselves are placed, guaranteeing that no two rides on The Joker are the same.
The Joker reaches a top speed of 38 miles per hour.
The Joker is located in the park’s Gotham City section.
The Joker’s unique ride experience guarantees that no two cycles are the same.
Superhero or Villain?
The Joker is one of several cloned installations coming to Six Flags parks in recent time, much like the B&M inverted coaster of the 1990s. The first of these S&S Free Fly coasters came to Six Flags Fiesta Texas in 2015 and was given the name Batman: The Ride. In 2016, Great Adventure added their own model, originally intended to be named Total Mayhem. However, the ride was quickly renamed to The Joker during construction. In 2017, Six Flags Over Texas, Great America and Six Flags New England added the same model roller coaster, all named The Joker. By 2020, nine roller coasters with the same track layout are slated to be found throughout the world, seven being located at Six Flags parks.
