Park Suffers Storm Flooding, ¡Viva la Fiesta! Review, Construction Updates
Six Flags Over Texas celebrates ¡Viva la Fiesta! now through May 5 with live entertainment, park decor and a special overlay on the Casa Magnetica crooked house. Before our visit, Six Flags Over Texas was hit with flood waters due to a major storm that came through the area, leaving sections and rides closed. Construction has also progressed on the two children's attractions coming to Bugs Bunny Boomtown.
Scream Break 2024 | Full Event Review & Behind-the-Scenes Haunted House Tour
Scream Break returns to Six Flags Over Texas from March 9 to 16, this time with a completely new theme. Attendees can experience the return of Casa Magnetica as the Lōkahi Welcome Center, the all-new Curse of the Polynesian Palm haunted house, multiple live entertainment offerings, specialty characters and a wide selection of adult beverages from themed bars. Shock Wave Celebrates 50 Million Riders, New Ride Construction, Spring Break
Six Flags Over Texas celebrates 50 million riders on the classic Shock Wave roller coaster with a ceremony featuring a ribbon cutting, giveaways and special behind-the-scenes tour. We also show off the quick construction progress taking place for the return of Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters and the new Sylvester & Tweety Pounce and Bounce. Six Flags Over Texas is also celebrating Spring Break through March 17 with live entertainment, decor and specialty food items.

Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, today announced the park’s lineup of thrilling spring events, featuring live performances by local musicians, a vintage-inspired haunt, a rare total solar eclipse, a major milestone for a classic ride, and a celebration of Latin American culture.
Schwarzkopf's Big Bend Roller Coaster | History of Six Flags Series
Big Bend, a Schwarzkopf Speed Racer roller coaster, called Six Flags Over Texas home from 1971 to 1979. When it opened, it was the park's tallest and fastest roller coaster. Big Bend reached a top speed of 52 miles per hour, climbed up to 81 feet tall and featured 2,876 feet of track. Six Flags Over Texas Announces 2024 Park Improvements
Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, today announced new park enhancements for the 2024 season. One new ride, Sylvester and Tweety Pounce and Bounce, and one returning ride, Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters, will be coming to the Bugs Bunny Boomtown section of the park Memorial Day weekend. A retheming of the classic Chaparral Antique Cars into Dino Off Road Adventure will follow later in the summer.
Multiple Ride Removals, New Dining Upgrades, Bizarre Parking Layout | February 2024 Park Updates
Our visit to Six Flags Over Texas begins with a bizarre new layout for entering the park's parking lot. Once inside, our full tour of the park includes information about current ride closures and refurbishment projects, along with a look at the new dining upgrades at All American Cafe and Johnny Rockets. Plenty of activity is also taking place inside Bugs Bunny Boomtown with the recent removal of two attractions.
Two New Children’s Rides, Other Improvements Coming to Six Flags Over Texas in 2024
Six Flags Over Texas recently filed a project with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation that includes $2 million worth of upgrades for their Bugs Bunny Boomtown area. The scope of work described is for new paving and foundations for two new rides in the Bugs Bunny Boomtown section of the park.

Six Flags Over Texas Decade in Review | Grand Opening & the 1960s
The original Six Flags theme park, Six Flags Over Texas, officially opened on August 5, 1961. Themed around the six flags that had flown over Texas, the park's original concept featured first-of-its-kind attractions, heavily-themed areas and a major focus on entertainment and guest experience. Six Flags Over Texas saw tremendous growth in the 1960s. Marquee attractions, such as the El Aserradero log flume, the Runaway Mine Train roller coaster and hundreds of thousands of dollars invested into entertainment, highlighted the decade.
Ride Spotlight: Multi-Angle POV - Pirates of Speelunker Cave | 2023 Changes & Upgrades
Pirates of Speelunker Cave opened at Six Flags Over Texas on May 14, 2022 and sees many new changes for its grand reopening in 2023. Can you spot them all? Riders board the attraction and venture into Speelunker Cave. Soon enough, you are greeted by a band of pirates looking for lost treasure. Upon bracing a storm, a kraken, mermaids and more, the exploration takes riders deep into Speelunker territory. Over 60 Speelunkers greet guests with a custom soundtrack, projections and other effects. In the end, the pirates of no match for the Speelunkers and fail their treasure-hunting mission. Join us for a multi-angle POV of this attraction that revitalizes the classic Six Flags Over Texas character.

Summers in Texas are no joke and the triple-digit temperatures will continue for quite a while. Ride Spotlight - Aquaman: Power Wave | North America's First of its Kind!
Aquaman: Power Wave is the first ride of its kind to debut in North America. Built by Mack Rides, this high-thrill PowerSplash attraction features both forwards and backwards launches, reaching top speeds of sixty-three miles per hour. The water coaster also includes two spikes that stand at 148 feet tall and send riders plummeting ninety degrees. After multiple launches along the attraction’s 712-foot track, Aquaman: Power Wave ends with a huge splashdown.
Scream Break 2023 | Tons of Monsters, Crazy Sliders, Entertainment & Night Rides
New for 2023, Six Flags Over Texas debuts their Scream Break event. Taking place during their Spring Break celebration, this new nighttime event features access to Aquaman: Power Wave, rides, sideshow entertainment acts, haunted houses, a scare zone and more.

Six Flags Over Texas announced today that passholder previews will take place for the all-new Aquaman: Power Wave roller coaster on two weekends leading up to the ride’s grand opening. When it opens, the high-thrill Aquaman: Power Wave water coaster will be the first ride of its kind to debut in North America.
